How to Place Mushak with Ganesha
In traditional temple iconography, Mooshak is placed in front of and slightly below Ganesha — facing the deity, as if looking up at him. In a home mandir, a single Mushak idol is placed directly in front of the Ganesha idol on the altar shelf. A Mushak pair is placed one on either side of Ganesha, facing inward toward him. The mouse should never face away from Ganesha or away from the puja space. The modak held by Mooshak represents the offering being presented to Ganesha.
Why does Ganesha have a mouse as his vahana?
